Course Summary

The Communications 2 (Furniture Design) course builds on skills and knowledge developed in Communication 1 (Furniture Design. The course has been designed to cover three significant areas of contemporary communication practice. These 3 areas (subjects) are :
Drawing, Sketching and Rendering
This looks at the main facets of drawing and rendering for furniture design practice. These include drawing to communicate ideas as well as drawing to refine and represent colour renditions of form and materials.
C.A.F.D. (Computer Aided Furniture Design) Advanced
Computer Aided Furniture Design builds on the use of 2 dimensional technical drawing and 3 dimensional modelling program used in Semester 1. Its emphasis is on the use of these programs to refine design propositions and to encourage creativity in the use of the programs. Complex and advanced functions are explored to develop a toolbox of methods to manipulate and present design information for other to use and understand.
Multimedia Presentation Methods
Introduces current software and techniques for the digital presentation of design ideas and concepts.
