Course Summary
Technology 3 (Furniture Design) is primarily concerned with introducing you to the broad range of technological contexts and practices involved in furniture design and manufacture. These contexts may include but are not limited to; CAD (Computer Aided Drawing), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacture), CNC (Computer Numeric Control). A focus is given to the role that you play in constructing your own relationships with technology. You will explore at least two contexts of technology in the course in practical sense and will be exposed to a diverse range of technologies used in the design and manufacture of products.
There is an emphasis on the use of new and emerging materials and application of elements in sustainable manufacture through the efficiencies gained in production to ensure savings and to minimise wastes.
