ARCH1345 Landscape Architecture Design Studio 2 is undertaken within the vertically integrated landscape architecture design studio stream and is part of the sequence of lower studios 2, 3, 4, and 5. The design studios aim to develop, apply and test your landscape architectural design skills through engagement with contemporary landscape, social and environmental issues. This entails:
• Developing an understanding of relevant theoretical, technical, environmental, historical and professional contexts.
• Integrating this understanding into coherent and site-responsive design proposal(s).
• Applying appropriate communication techniques, including drawing, modelling and verbal presentation, to demonstrate your work to a wider audience.
Studios are vertically integrated, enabling learning among students at different levels and fostering increasing independence and sophistication as you progress through the program. Each studio offers a distinct theme and design approach supported by an associated program of workshops, talks tutorials, and site visits.
Design studio learning and assessment are based on cycles of feedback, review and reflection between staff, peers and industry participants. Your work will be presented and critiqued in formal face-to-face reviews and submitted as a design process document (a studio portfolio). Some studios may also engage with clients, external collaborators or scenario-based design projects to simulate professional practice.
