Course Summary

This course is a core course for the NAATI Certified Interpreter test
This course aims to provide you with the skills and knowledge in oral transfer, the primary competency of the professional interpreter, and the ability to apply relevant contextual and pragmatic knowledge required of the particular assignment. You will also be introduced to a range of specific advanced interpreting techniques, such as conversation turn-taking and its dynamics, note-taking for consecutive interpreting, sight translation and whispered simultaneous interpreting. You will also learn how to identify and employ cohesion and intonation patterns applicable to oral communication. Upon the completion of this test, you will be eligible to sit the Certified Interpreting test administered by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI).
