Course Summary
This course provides an introduction to writing communities and the publishing industry, and develops the fundamental language and communication skills you need as a writer or an editor. For much of the course you study the theoretical rules and conventions of English grammar and syntax, while developing an understanding of how idiom, usage, register and style affect language choices for different writing contexts. You also appraise fiction and non-fiction texts for publication in specific markets and apply the principles of effective communication in editorial report writing.
