Course Summary

This course introduces you to the design of electrical building services, i.e. electrical systems and installations that provide power, movement, communication, comfort and safety in modern buildings. Building services are designed by electrical engineers prior to the construction of new buildings, and before maintenance and upgrade work in existing buildings.
Particular topics to be investigated will include:
  1. Introduction to AS3000
  2. Selection and Installation of Wiring System
  3. Building Protection Design
  4. Earthing Arrangements and Earthing Conductors
  5. Lightning Protection Design for Buildings
  6. Lighting Design
  7. Building Management Systems
  8. Building Telecommunication Services
  9. Heating and Ventilation Systems
  10. Building Services Sustainability and Lifetime considerations
  11. Commercial Building Microgrids
  12. Connection Agreements/ Tariffs
