Science Honours Project 1 marks the commencement of sustained research activity within your Honours project. In this course, you initiate and begin implementing your approved research design within your disciplinary context, refining methodological and conceptual elements where necessary.

Working in consultation with your supervisor, you will undertake research activities, begin generating or analysing data, test feasibility, and apply appropriate analytical approaches. As the project progresses, aspects of the research design may be refined in response to emerging findings, methodological insight or practical considerations.

This course supports the development of research autonomy, analytical judgement and accountable scholarly practice as you transition from research planning to sustained investigation. Projects are supervised by an academic research staff member and may involve collaboration with external partners such as industry or government agencies where appropriate.

Performance in this course contributes to the cumulative assessment of the Honours thesis. The final grade is determined upon completion of the full Science Honours Project sequence as per your program plan requirements.

If you are enrolled in this course as a component of your Bachelor Honours Program, your overall mark will contribute to the calculation of the Weighted Average Mark (WAM).
