Science Honours Project 2 represents the culminating stage of your Honours research. In this course, you integrate and critically evaluate the full scope of your investigation to establish analytical coherence, disciplinary positioning and scholarly contribution.
Building on the implementation and findings developed in earlier Science Honours Project courses, you will consolidate empirical, theoretical or analytical components of your research, resolve methodological refinements, and synthesise your work into a coherent and defensible thesis. Emphasis is placed on integration, scholarly judgement and the articulation of disciplinary significance.
Working in close consultation with your supervisor, you will complete the substantive components of your project and prepare your thesis in accordance with disciplinary conventions and professional standards. You are expected to demonstrate intellectual independence, rigorous analytical reasoning and accountability for the integrity and quality of your work.
A formal research seminar forms part of this course. This provides an opportunity to communicate and defend your research findings to academic peers and staff, and to engage constructively with scholarly critique. The seminar supports the development of professional research communication and the capacity to respond thoughtfully to disciplinary questioning.
This course enables you to demonstrate advanced research capability consistent with Honours-level expectations, including the ability to position your work within broader disciplinary and scientific contexts and to defend its contribution.
Your performance in this course contributes to the overall assessment and grading of the Honours research project.
If you are enrolled in this course as a component of your Bachelor Honours Program, your overall mark will contribute to the calculation of the Weighted Average Mark (WAM).
