Course Summary
In this course you will explore the application of community-based corrections as it applies to individuals placed on a non-custodial sentence in the courts or who have been given on parole after a custodial sentence. You will examine the origins and the development of community based corrections and the social, cultural and political issues that impact on the community correctional system.
You will examine the use of community corrections for a diverse range of populations and contexts and explore the effectiveness of specific community-based rehabilitative programs. You will critically analyse the roles and case management of community based officers and the current state and possible future direction of community corrections in Australia.
