Course Summary

In this course you will extend and challenge your understanding of visual language and visual culture, applying your insights to the development of a personal graphic language. You will investigate contemporary and historical ideas that concern visual design and communication, including design principles and elements. By applying this knowledge to a number of practical and theoretical exercises, you will gain insight into design processes including rationales and concept roughs. Underpinning these applications are industry conventions and requirements including ethical, legal and sustainability issues which will also be considered in your graphic design practice.
