In this course you will explore a range of urban, social and environmental challenges facing a city or region by taking part in a study tour to that area either physically or through teleconferencing. You will learn about a selected city's history, urban geography, environment and economy through reading, classes and site visits. You will focus on a range of issues relevant to the city or region and learn how to integrate, compare and analyse these. Topics may range across urban design or planning strategies, environmental and climate change challenges, population transition, or contemporary social or urban development issues. For study tour instances of this course, costs may be associated with travel, accommodation and other elements of the activity.
