Course Summary
This course is undertaken in the final year of the Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (AD026) program. It involves simulated Work Integrated Learning (WIL), during which you will be required to undertake a Capstone project simulating industry-based tasks. To complete the Capstone project, you will be required to develop, manage and achieve the same objectives and outcomes as you would if you were undertaking an engineering project in the work place.
The capstone project will require you to utilise a range of skills to complete the project. You will be expected to demonstrate both your technical and project management skills to achieve a successful project outcome. You will be required to utilise multiple technologies and, apply and demonstrate the knowledge and skills you have developed across all the courses you have undertaken in this program.
You will work on the project in a small team and will be completing most of the works during teacher-guided tutorial classes. You will be provided with regular feedback on your progress by the teaching team and industry partners. Industry involvement in this capstone project will include:
- the project brief developed in collaboration with industry to ensure authenticity to industry practices.
- class-wide industry feedback and guidance at a midway point of project development.
- evaluation of a sample of projects and class-focused feedback on completion.
Peer feedback is a mandatory requirement within the group work settings to ensure that you and your group members are contributing to project. A number of RMIT Micro-Credentials have also been incorporated to enhance your employability skills.
