Course Summary
You will begin this course by auditing your own mathematical content knowledge to develop a plan to address your personal areas of need. You will then explore the concepts and teaching strategies in 'Big Ideas' in Number and apply these in the primary classroom through responding to classroom scenarios. You will conduct a formative assessment of a student, interpret the results and then plan and organise a teacher focus group to modify practice to target student's needs. You will also provide feedback to parents/carers on the student's mathematical progress and demonstrate your appreciation of the strategies required to work effectively, sensitively and confidentially to involve these stakeholders in the educative process.
