Course Summary
In this course you will examine texts from the travel genre in order to consider the imaginative possibilities of mobility. You will be introduced to ways of reading literature related to space (including psychological, physical, geographical) place (as it is imagined, traversed, and occupied). The course is primarily concerned with exploring the links between reading and location from classical times to the present. Texts may include accounts of pilgrimages, imaginary voyages, utopian fantasies, explorers' tales and literary tourism.
