In this course you will explore the technological, social, cultural and historical frameworks that have produced contemporary electronic dance music and DJ culture. You will develop the practical skills that underpin the art of DJing, and you will investigate the various styles and genres that are central to dance music. Through a combination of hands-on practical work and theoretical analysis, you will develop an awareness of the techniques, practices and philosophies that have informed the progression of club-based music and culture, and have made DJing a key aspect of the contemporary global popular music industry. You will also investigate options and opportunities to engage in professional DJ practice. 

This course includes Industry Partnered Learning (IPL) activities, where you will have the opportunity to participate in authentic industry and community engaged activities and tasks to support your professional development and career planning such as Career Development Learning (CDL).
