This course provides you with an introduction to the materials used in biological applications in medical devices and life science applications with a particular focus on structural biomaterials. You will develop an understanding of the property requirements for biomaterials and be introduced to the main biomaterials: metals, ceramics, polymers and natural materials that are used as biomaterials, their biocompatibility performance, and their testing and evaluation.
Please note that if you take this course for a bachelor honours program, your overall mark in this course will be one of the course marks that will be used to calculate the weighted average mark (WAM) that will determine your award level.
