Course Summary

In this course, you will develop an advanced understanding of the principles and techniques of contemporary communication design practice, through inquiry-based learning in a studio environment. The course includes a series of studio-based projects, through which you will explore current and new thinking and specialised practice in communication design.
You will further develop your conceptual and technical skills in communication design, synthesising contextual, strategic and pragmatic considerations in innovative practice. You will develop sophisticated solutions to communication design problems that are informed by relevant history and theory, and by strategic thinking and contemporary industry expectations.
This is a designated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course for MC250 Master of Communication Design. This course includes a work-integrated learning experience, in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience.
In this course you may have the option to undertake a placement. An agreement including schedule and relevant insurance documentation is required to be completed before commencing each placement (local and international). International placements must be registered and processed through RMIT Global Mobility. In the case where a placement ends early, please refer to Changes or cancellation of WIL activities in the WIL Guideline.
