Course Summary

This course aims to provide you with an understanding of the health law principles in the Australian legal system. It examines social perspectives and determinants of health and the role of law and patient-doctor relations, including issues of medical decision-making. The course explores legal issues arising out of reproductive technologies, withdrawal and withholding of medical treatment and euthanasia. Organ and tissue donation, property in the human body and genetics are also explored, along with, mental health and public health issues in Australia and internationally.
