In this Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course students will undertake a sequence of practical flight training exercises under the oversight of a licenced flight instructor, to meet the experience and competency requirements of an Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) holder. Learning will be undertaken with the RMIT Aviation Academy (RAA) in a single engine training aircraft and flight simulator, as well as through pre-flight and post-flight briefings.
Students will build upon the competencies established during their previous flight training, both under direct supervision and as pilot in command without supervision. These exercises will cover planning and conducting more challenging cross cross-country flights, basic instrument and night flying, and learning to use complex aircraft features, such as a Constant Speed Unit. Upon completion of the flight exercises students will undergo a CPL licence test to assess their competency against the CASA CPL licence requirements.
