Course Summary

This course builds upon the theoretical basis and skill foundation in teaching Health, Physical Education and Sport introduced in Fundamentals of Movement Instruction. Emphasis will be placed on building a more comprehensive understanding and application of teaching competencies. An understanding of the effective interaction of the teacher, student and teaching environments will be developed. The teaching practice component of this course provides for the acquisition of teaching skills and professional competencies in an applied setting. You will complete an experience in a school setting under the supervision of an experienced teacher of Health and Physical Education. The course includes a Work Integrated Learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience.
