Course Summary

This course will explore flexible sensors and components for e-textiles and the Internet of Things (IoT) to support the development of smart textiles and fashion wearables. In doing so, you will consider the viability of wear, safety and laundering, and the relationship between wearable technology, user's bodies and their needs.
You will explore how to embed, combine, connect electronics with textile materials (soft and hard components). You will be introduced to basic electronics and programming, working with soft actuators, sensors, conductive threads. You will also explore how these can be combined with textile processes such as embroidery, beading, printing, braiding, weaving and knitting.
