Course Summary

This course will explore flexible electronic devices, basic programming, and components for e-textiles to support the development of fashion and costume wearables. In doing so, you will consider the viability of wear, safety and laundering, the relationship between wearable technology, user’s bodies and their needs, and ethical and sustainability concerns relating to wearable technology design.

You will explore how to embed, combine, and connect electronics with textile materials (soft and hard components). You will be introduced to basic electronics and coding techniques, working with soft sensors, and conductive materials. You will also explore how these can be combined with textile processes.
