Course Summary
In this course you will have an opportunity to connect with key aspects of sustainability within fashion practice through an in-depth reflection on wearing practices and the value of garment objects. Wardrobe studies and garment analysis will inform your understanding of why people wear what they wear. You will apply this knowledge to a design project that considers the central concept of future fashion by exploring a range of alternative design approaches including sustainable, ethical and slow design, and extended use practices. You will investigate the potential of these methods within contemporary fashion contexts to develop new fashion design strategies for more sustainable consumption practices in wear and use.
