Course Summary

In this course you will explore methods for the design and embellishment of textile surfaces, including screenprint and an array of other techniques. Framed around the preservation and innovation of longstanding practices and techniques you will learn about design composition, colour, texture, pattern, and hybrid processes through combining new materials and artisan craft techniques.
Through material play and iterative ideation you will develop textile surface design concepts, fabric outcomes, and support materials to communicate your concepts. You will also gain an overview of diverse contemporary and historical perspectives of textile surface practices to inform your design ideas.
