Course Summary
In this course you will undertake a self-directed practice-based textile design project that engages with advanced thinking, research, concepts, ideas, techniques and expressions of textile design practice.
The research and development undertaken in Advanced Textile Materials, Techniques, Expressions forms the basis of your project and will be reflected and referred to throughout the semester. This course complements your self-directed research dissertation project in Textile Design Honours Research, which further enables you to design, communicate, and reflect on your practice in relation to precedents in a global fashion context.
The emphasis of the honours project is the production of a resolved and considered series of project outcomes that capture the depth of your research and development and that are appropriate to the way you position your project. You will also develop a critical understanding of different modes of disseminating fashion and appropriate methodologies for its public communication. This course can provide a pathway to postgraduate research.
Please note that if you take this course for a bachelor honours program, your overall mark in this course will be one of the course marks that will be used to calculate the weighted average mark (WAM) that will determine your award level. See the WAM information web page for more information.
