Course Summary

This course will introduce you to the impact of existing and emerging technologies in accounting and taxation practice. By situating accounting technologies in time and place, you will understand that today's practice has been shaped as society and technology have evolved. You will acquire a keen appreciation of how emerging technologies relate to a diversity of contemporary accounting-related settings, and how they shape and interact with multiple regulatory environments. As such, your understanding of the roles of accounting practice related to technology change will be fostered. This will be illustrated through the analysis of the impact of Blockchain and other technology. This forward-looking perspective will require you to analyse issues surrounding ethics, power and control in technology driven, digital societies.
