Course Summary

A range of new approaches to traditional legal problems are being introduced in the Australian civil and criminal justice systems. These new methods are underpinned by a critical analysis of law and the legal system, and by theories of therapeutic jurisprudence, restorative justice, and procedural justice. New strategies to address access to justice and appropriate dispute resolution are also emerging and responding to the availability of new technologies. This course will engage with current social justice problems, legal developments and the introduction of emergent technology to explore ways innovation is evolving in the Australian justice system. You will also work with your peers to develop innovative justice solutions to current social problems. This course includes Industry Embedded Activities (IEA) in which students engage with members of industry to further their understanding of justice innovations.
