Course Summary
With more than 90% of the world trade in volume being transported by sea, the maritime industry plays a crucial role in the global economy. This is especially highlighted in the context of globalisation whereby production, supply chain and market in a global scale have become a norm and international trade has grown even faster than global production. In this connection, effective and efficient logistics management of key maritime operations becomes critical to the unimpeded trade flows.
This course explores the fundamentals of maritime logistics in the specific domains of shipping and port logistics, as well as that of supporting maritime logistics services. The course also examines how maritime logistics can be managed as a crucial trade facilitator, and discusses the recent innovation, i.e., the impacts of digitalisation on maritime logistics.
