Course Summary

This course introduces students to the principles and practice of sustainability within contemporary settings, including in the fields of health and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). It offers a holistic,?integrative?and interdisciplinary?consideration of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), current sustainability?priorities,?and future sustainability trends?in relation to STEM?and health.??
The course will explore the nexus between complex sustainability issues-such as climate change, biodiversity, environmental health, food and nutrition, pollution and contamination, responsible consumption, and sustainable energy and transport systems-and how STEM and health sciences support sustainable solutions. Sharing and communication of diverse viewpoints and expertise from across the STEM?and health?disciplines?will be facilitated to enable collaborative action to address real world sustainability problems.
This course also emphasises the importance of diversity, inclusion, equity, and reconciliation as core drivers of sustainable change and are essential for ensuring diverse voices are heard, valued, and empowered in co-creating sustainable futures for society and the environment. Ultimately, the course will encourage and enable?you?to bring a sustainability focus, approach, and agency into?your?future studies and resulting careers.?
