Course Summary

This course will introduce you to wearable technologies and the components and software that make these technologies possible. In doing so, you will explore the viability of miniaturization of chips, sensors and Internet of Things (IoT) devices combined with the increasing sophistication of artificial intelligence for their relevant and reliable applications in the fields of medicine, sports, fitness, and entertainment.
You will explore how to embed, combine, connect electronics with different materials suitable for wearing. You will be introduced to basic electronics and programming, working with actuators, sensors, and transducers. You will also explore the potential implications of wearable tech devices to our health, privacy, and society.
If you are enrolled in this course as a component of your Bachelor Honours Program, your overall mark will contribute to the calculation of the weighted average mark (WAM).
