Course Summary

This course is identified by RMIT University as a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience in which knowledge and skills will be practiced within the university simulated health environment, and applied and assessed in a clinical workplace context, as feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your professional experiences.

This course focuses on preparation for professional practice. It will also include a practice job interview developing a CV, career advice and information supporting application for a graduate year. ?You will undertake supervised simulation-based learning opportunities within the simulated health environment and complete supervised professional placement/s in a prearranged health care setting for a prescribed period of time.

You will work with a Registered Nurse in the healthcare team to continue building on nursing skills acquired in preceding and current semesters with the view to transitioning to a beginning practitioner.

You will work towards providing nursing care for 3- 4 resident/patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, developing independent and critical thinking skills required for time management and prioritisation of nursing care.

An assessment requirement for this course requires students to complete clinical placement within a healthcare setting. To be eligible to undertake clinical placement, students must meet certain mandated documentation and immunisation requirements.
