Course Summary

This course will challenge you to think about and experience educational settings in a way that extends the knowledge, understandings and skills developed through your chosen minor sequence. You will explore the common issues affecting this diverse sector as well as the unique features of the provisions in non-school settings. In particular, emphasis will be given to educational inclusion and the ways that non-school settings can support students to thrive outside of the mainstream education system. In completing this course, you will have a sound understanding of the concepts of educational disengagement and marginalisation.
This course includes a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) professional experience (PX) in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/or community is integral to your experience. This PX is 15 days.
