Course Summary
This course provides you with a capstone experience, which will give you the opportunity to integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt in your program. Additionally, the course incorporates a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) component, providing you with an opportunity to apply and assess your expertise in a real or simulated workplace environment. Throughout this experience, feedback from industry and/or the community plays a vital role, enhancing the overall value of your learning journey.
The primary focus of this capstone and WIL course is to offer you hands-on practical experience to the execution of cyber security projects. Through this course, you will learn how to analyse cyber security risks in information systems, devise effective solutions, implement mitigation strategies to protect information systems, and evaluate and document the effectiveness of these solutions.
You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively in a project team of 4 to 6 students, where you will undertake industry projects from inception to final implementation. The course places a strong emphasis on understanding and operating within a corporate environment, utilizing formal cyber security methodologies, and integrating the skills and knowledge acquired throughout your program.
In regards to WIL, an agreement including schedule and relevant insurance documentation is required to be completed and the WIL Preparation module for students and/or WIL Ready Cred for students must be successfully completed before commencing each placement/internship (local and international). International placements/internships must be registered and processed through RMIT Global Mobility. In the case where a placement ends early, please refer to 'Changes or cancellation of WIL activities' in the Work integrated learning (WIL) procedure.
