Course Summary

In this capstone course, you will work on an industry-based project that addresses emerging and future commerce opportunities and challenges (e.g., those concerning the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and technological innovations). You will apply your discipline knowledge and critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop a comprehensive project proposal that provides innovative solutions to an authentic commerce problem raised by a specific client that can add value to the client's organisation in an ethical and sustainable manner. This course emphasises data-driven decision-making in that you will locate and analyse data to identify future commerce trends and generate insights to inform decision-making. This course also offers you an opportunity to improve your interpersonal and professional communication skills through working in teams and communicating your proposed solutions to relevant stakeholders with diverse perspectives and interests.
This course includes a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience. You will undertake and be assessed on structured activities that allow you to learn, apply and demonstrate your professional or vocational practice and be involved in authentic engagement with partner organisations that include industry feedback. This course provides you with a capstone experience, which will give you the opportunity to research, integrate, critically reflect on and consolidate what you have learnt in your program. This will be the culmination of the industry e-portfolio that you began in the first year of the Bachelor of Commerce program.
