Course Summary
In high quality early childhood education, children encounter a wide range of media and materials through which they express themselves. They become skilled in using diverse means to communicate or represent their understandings, emotions, discoveries, and interests. Through these creative of expressions, children have the opportunity to collaborate, realize new perspectives and deepen their relationships with others.
This course focuses on some of the creative codes of our culture including language, speech, communication, music and the visual arts. You will explore theories of language development and literacy awareness, curriculum practices that facilitate children's language learning and strategies that support the provision of a language rich, culturally diverse, environment. You will design learning environments that promote appreciation and significance of creative practice.
This will build upon your previous knowledge and understanding from TCHE2726, Inclusive Pedagogies for Early Childhood Education.
