Course Summary

As a designer, you need to know how to effectively communicate with manufacturers across the value chain to be able to realise your design concept.
In this course you will develop essential knowledge and skills for translating textile designs into production-ready specifications . Through industry engagement and real-world scenarios, you will learn how to make informed decisions about textile sourcing, production methods, and manufacturer relationships. You will explore specification development for various textile processes including knit, weave, print, dyeing, and embellishment, while gaining hands-on experience with industry-standard digital tools.
You will develop critical understanding of ethical considerations, transparency, and sustainability in manufacturing relationships. Through practical projects, you will create technical specifications and production documentation to effectively communicate design requirements to manufacturers.
The course includes learning activities and assessments to engage and connect you with industry relevant to your current studies
This course is a component of the major in Textile and Material Design offered in BP326P26 Bachelor of Fashion Sustainability.
