In this studio course, textiles are approached as a space for material thinking and creative exploration. You will work with fibre-based construction methods such as knit, weave, and thread-based techniques to explore the interconnected relationship between surface, form, and structure.
Through a hands-on, iterative design process, you will experiment with materials, processes, and textile-form effects to generate new textile forms. Textile making becomes a way of asking questions and reimagining the role of textiles in contemporary contexts in relation to the themes of body, object, space, and/or experience.
Alongside technical skill development, you will cultivate an iterative design practice grounded in curiosity, reflection, and critical engagement with textile materials.
This course is a component of the major in Textile and Material Design offered in BP326P26 Bachelor of Fashion Sustainability.
