You will explore processes of abstraction, reduction, the non-objective, gesture, play and chance associations as strategies for making. Cultural influences on the development of abstraction will be considered. You will be encouraged to develop your own approach to contemporary abstraction utilising a range of methods of making such as painting, print, digital technologies, drawing, collage, photography and the readymade object.
