Course Summary
In this studio-based course, you will be introduced to a broad range of material processes and skills relevant to contemporary painting practice. The course is structured around developmental projects where you will explore the connections between the technical and conceptual aspects of painting. You will develop expanded and adaptable strategies to generate ideas, initiate artworks, and explorative outcomes and experiments with a range of forms and approaches.
Through hands-on exploration, you will create a series of investigative projects that test processes and technologies, focusing on innovative approaches to painting while maintaining a responsible artistic practice that respectfully engages with diverse cultural knowledges and contexts.
Through the presentation of artworks, you will engage in critical reflection and feedback and continue to build your digital documentation of the evolution of resolved artworks, concepts, research and working methods.
You will consider methods and processes that foreground safe practices and environmental sustainability.
