Course Summary
In this studio-based course, you will be introduced to diverse material processes and drawing skills through expansive projects incorporating conceptual, temporal, spatial, embodied, digital and material approaches to mark making. The course is structured around developmental projects in which you will explore technical and conceptual connections to help inform and build your emerging drawing practice.
You will learn traditional observational drawing alongside experimental methods and develop strategies to generate ideas, initiate artworks and alternative outcomes. You will explore various materials, processes, and techniques while learning to engage respectfully with diverse cultural knowledge and contexts.
Through the presentation of artworks, you will engage in critical reflection and feedback and continue to build your digital documentation of the evolution of resolved artworks, concepts, research and working methods. The course encourages experimental investigations and culminates in resolved artworks demonstrating your emerging drawing practice. You will consider methods and processes that foreground safe practices and environmental.
