Course Summary

In this course, you will continue working with specialised skills in gold & silversmithing, focusing on jewellery setting and attaching objects to the body. You will develop strategies and methods of gold & silversmithing production to progress your art practice and build upon the skills you have already developed in other courses. You will be encouraged to develop an individual approach and interpretation to develop new work utilising a range of techniques as well as considering ways in which they may be presented to the viewer.??
You will learn to experiment, test and resolve a range of Gold & Silversmithing processes methods and technologies such as the basic methods of jewellery settings before extending this knowledge by experimenting with diverse ways of attaching dissimilar materials together and jewellery to the body. You will explore the relationship between studio and exhibition, testing how the site of installation can further develop the work.??
You will create a series of experimental investigations that lead to a range of creative outcomes that evidence social integrity and ethical, sustainable, and safe practices in the development of your practice and learning.?Through the presentation of artworks, you will engage in critical reflection and feedback and continue to build your digital documentation of the evolution of resolved artworks, concepts, research and working methods.?
This course includes a simulated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience where you will plan and deliver a site-specific exhibition considering - not only the aesthetic and spatial attributes of your work in public - but also the safety, logisitical, and promotional requirements of such an activity.
