Course Summary
Architectural and interior photography plays a crucial role in how we perceive and understand built environments. This course focuses on the art and technique of capturing architectural and interior spaces, being able to highlight design, structure and aesthetics while developing skills that enhance your ability to tell visual stories about spaces. This course will provide you with an understanding of the historical and theoretical foundations of photographing space, and how photography has been fundamental to documenting civilisations, cultures and societies from its beginnings until the current day.
You will learn professional practice and strategies that include client relationships, pre-production, workflow and editing processes, and understand how to translate spatial qualities for different markets through different lens-based approaches. The course will cover both the technical and creative aspects of photography necessary for effective architectural and interior imagery when working with industry partners in the field. Working with architectural companies and design industry professionals, you will create a campaign or suite of images for an industry engaged project that reflects commercial standards.
This course includes Industry Partnered Learning (IPL) in the form of simulated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activities, where you will have the opportunity to participate in authentic industry and community engaged activities and tasks to support your professional development and career planning. This course is part of the Major and Minor: Client-centred Photography and Major and Minor: Photography.
