Course Summary

This studio-based course complements the Expanded Media Arts specialisation courses, supporting you to integrate and synthesise the technical skills you have acquired with a range of strategies and concepts to strengthen the scope of your emerging individual creative practice.
In this course, you will work both individually and collaboratively, focusing on themed developmental projects that promote creative experimentation. These projects are designed to introduce you to creative approaches that are expansive and adaptable, supporting the development of resolved outcomes and visual dialogues. A key component of your learning will be the integration of ethical, sustainable, and safe practices into your creative process.
Throughout the course, you will explore works by diverse creative practitioners working in digital art and expanded media arts technologies to inform and inspire your practice-led research and production methods. This exposure will help you to reflect on, and creatively respond to, contemporary concepts of expanded media arts practice.
Through group tutorials, class discussion and critique, you will develop skills to critically reflect on your own work and the work of others, introducing you to experiences that link your creative practice to the broader context of creative practice.
This course introduces key RMIT capabilities and sets the foundation for a continuum of professional skills for the creative industries.
