In this course, you will investigate a diverse range of conceptual and technical aspects of contemporary figuration. You will experiment with the figurative image and its broader contexts by using various source materials such as direct observation, existing images, film and social media.??

You will investigate ideas of narrative, seriality, distortion, movement, emptiness, and trace as form and content. This course will enable you to explore the relationship between painting, drawing, photography, social media and film. Visual lectures, individual and group tutorials, field trips, and demonstrations complement this course. Projects will encourage processes of documentation and reflection to inform and extend your studio work.?
