Course Summary

In this studio-based course, you will examine whether the traditions and conventions of print practice are absolute and unchangeable, or if they can evolve by challenging the abstract constructions of art history. Through explorations of the expressive qualities of printmaking, innovative and experimental techniques will be developed to discover new potentials for traditional technology.?
In this course you will establish a more substantial, independent studio practice and diversify your options. You will experiment with forms and processes to explore the language of materials in ways that expand, transform and deepen your personal approach to printmaking. You will further develop knowledge and experience in the range of specialised methods of production to make informed choices about the appropriate concepts, materials, process and technologies for your print practice and ways in which they may be presented to the viewer.?
You will build on past experience and your research by synthesising and applying new information to develop appropriate ways of selecting concepts, materials and/or processes for making works. The objectives of this course are to produce a resolved body of work including appropriate support materials and research that establishes a social and cultural framework for your contemporary art practice.???
This course includes a simulated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience where you will plan and deliver a site-specific exhibition considering - not only the aesthetic and spatial attributes of your work in public - but also the safety, logistical, and promotional requirements of such an activity.
This course is part of the Major: 2D Studio Practices. ??
