In this course, you will work collaboratively and individually to develop a broad range of conceptual and technical processes and skills relevant to sculpture. The course is structured around themed developmental projects that utilise expansive and adaptable creative strategies specifically relating to the development of installation and other spatially oriented art practices.
The aim of this course is to use strategies of sculpture to critically examine and respond to material, social, cultural, environmental and historical knowledge and contexts to help inform and build your emerging interdisciplinary studio practice. You will explore the relationship between studio and exhibition, testing how the site of installation can further develop the work.
You will create a series of experimental investigations that lead to a range of creative outcomes that evidence social integrity and ethical, sustainable, and safe practices in the development of your practice and learning. Through the presentation of artworks, you will engage in critical reflection and feedback and continue to build your digital documentation of the evolution of resolved artworks, concepts, research and working methods.
This course includes a simulated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience where you will plan and deliver a site-specific exhibition considering - not only the aesthetic and spatial attributes of your work in public - but also the safety, logistical, and promotional requirements of such an activity.
This course is part of the Major: 3D Studio Practices.
