Course Summary

This course introduces you to blockchain concepts, architectures, and applications within cybersecurity contexts. You will explore distributed ledger technologies, consensus mechanisms (e.g. proof of work/stake), and the development of smart contracts. Using blockchain platforms such as Ethereum or Hyperledger, you will gain hands-on experience in deploying simple decentralised applications. The course examines the role of blockchain in enhancing trust, transparency, and integrity in areas like digital identity, secure transactions, and supply chain management. Ethical, environmental, and regulatory implications of blockchain adoption will also be discussed. This unit provides you with foundational skills for emerging roles in blockchain development and cybersecurity. This course is a core course in the Cyber Security Operations Major.
