Course Summary
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to style fashion for media advertising campaigns according to a commercial brief. It requires the ability to interpret the brief requirements for creative ideas, locate resources, collaborate with creative team, style and fit garments during production, complete post-production activities and evaluate and promote media styling work. This unit applies to wardrobe or fashion stylists, working freelance or for a media enterprise, who select clothing for actors in television or models in print advertising campaigns, that may include brand specific websites or e-commerce. These stylists are often part of a larger creative team assembled by the client, collaborating with the director/photographer, hair stylist and makeup artist to put together a particular look or theme for the specific project, often under constraining timelines. They are required to respond to commercial briefs, which are usually developed by advertising agencies.
