Course Summary
In this course you will examine how media cultures form around the intersection of how media is made, how media finds an audience, and how audiences engage with and make sense of the media they engage with.
By considering the transformative impacts of key developments in media industries such as the introduction of television, the transition to digital culture, and the rise of algorithmically distributed audio and video media you will come to understand how media operates globally, nationally and locally.
By analysing your own learning and practice as a media student (and future practitioner) you will develop the skills required to understand and articulate how media cultures operate in ways that can facilitate ethical and cultural fluencies with contemporary media industries.
