In this course you will be introduced to the key legal areas relevant to young people and youth work. You will be introduced to relevant legislative frameworks and build awareness of the role of youth work in supporting young people in the legal system. You will develop skills in working at the intersection between interacting with young people, with legal providers and youth culture frameworks.  You will engage in learning activities including excursions, industry partner and guest presentations, multimedia resources, and facilitated workshops. 

The legal system will be analysed critically through decolonising ways of knowing and being including through international contexts. 

This course is part of the Bachelor of Social Science Youth Work Major and the Youth Studies Minor. 

This is a designated Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course for the for BP363 Bachelor of Social Science. This course includes a work integrated learning experience in which your knowledge and skills will be applied and assessed in a real or simulated workplace context and where feedback from industry and/ or community is integral to your experience. 

This course includes Industry Partnered Learning (IPL), Career Development Learning (CDL) and Industry Embedded Activities. The course incorporates engagement with industry professionals and organisations. Through practical, industry-embedded activities, you’ll deepen your understanding of the intersection of sustainability and fashion while building networks to support your professional journey. 

Students should complete the following WIL-ready module before undertaking WIL activity in this course.
