Course Summary

In this course, you are invited to immerse yourself within an encounter between social sciences and creative practice. Co-taught by applied social science (mental health and wellbeing; youth work), fine art and photography academics, this course extends across disciplinary comfort zones to activate social transformation and wellbeing.

You will experiment with diverse methods to reflect on self and social contexts, and generate creative works that articulate your agency in this interdisciplinary space. Moving from the individual to the collective, you will contribute to collaborative responses to contemporary social challenges.

You will develop a practical understanding of core concepts and tools used in social science and creative practice, and their potentials. More broadly, you will develop skills to apply interdisciplinary methods and insight into the value of engaging diverse practices to negotiate complexity.

This course offers an introduction to the minor: Art and Social Science Intersections.
